I have the honour to transmit for

your information copies of correspondence on the subject of

Forestry Operations in Hongkong which were laid on the

table of the Legislative Council at their Meeting of the

14th. September, 1905.

I may mention that I have been in

correspondence on this subject with Mr. C. P. Lucas of your

Office who has been good enough to favour me with copies of

letters from Mr. C. Ford, I.S.0., formerly Superintendent

of the Botanical and Afforestation Department of the

Colony.

I would add that I am closely

watching the operations of that Department both in Hong-

-kong and in the New Territories from the aesthetic and hygienic
